KB Labs — Royal Danish Library APIs
Open APIs for historical Danish newspapers, digitized text collections, and aerial photography.
About
KB Labs is the digital research and developer initiative from Det Kgl. Bibliotek (The Royal Danish Library). It exposes open programmatic access to Denmark's cultural heritage: a documented Swagger/OpenAPI Newspaper API (querying historical OCR text from Mediestream in JSON/JSONL/CSV), historical aerial photographs (Danmark set fra luften), digitized books, and open metadata collections.
Actionable Use Cases
- 01Search and extract OCR text from historical Danish newspapers via OpenAPI
- 02Retrieve georeferenced historical aerial photographs of Danish properties and landscapes
- 03Perform text mining and natural language processing on public domain Danish literature
- 04Query library metadata, digital collections, and bibliographic records
Technical Details & Limits
